The Blues Dance Project aims to supply the same kind background information and
cultural context to the Blues dance form as we have for Lindy Hop.
The Blues Dance Project is the search for both historical and modern documentation of blues dance; and the goal is to provide information that will help answer questions about dancing to Blues music: "What was Blues dance?" "What is Blues dance?" and "What is it becoming?".
One way we are striving to this goal is by creating a repository of video and film clips, stories, interviews, books, articles, and any other related materials that will add to this understanding. We hope another result of this research will be a Blues Dance Documentary Film that will follow the history of Blues Dance from it's roots to its present day incarnation and help to solidify the dance form in the public's mind.
To these ends, we need your help. If you have some information that might be useful to post on the site or include in the documentary, let us know whether we can download it for use on the site or whether we should link to your site; and we'll be sure to give you credit. If it's not yours, we'll pursue the permission to use it and hopefully one day be able to share it with others through this website or the documentary.
If you have specific skills that could be of use in this project (writing, editing, film-making, grant-writing), we'd love for you to join us. This is a non-profit venture and funds are limited, but we hope that those that contribute will be able to share in it's success in proportion to their contributions.
